God is calling His people to Organize!

Let all things be done decently and in order. {1Co 14:40}
Some have advanced the thought that as we near the close of time, every child of God will act independently of any religious organization. But I have been instructed by the Lord that in this work there is no such thing as every man's being independent. The stars of heaven are all under law, each influencing the other to do the will of God, yielding their common obedience to the law that controls their action. And, in order that the Lord's work may advance healthfully and solidly, His people must draw together. {GW 487.2}

Waldensian Center

Agricultural, Industrial and Medical Missionary Training Center

Our ideas of education take too narrow and too low a range. There is need of a broader scope, a higher aim. True education means more than the pursual of a certain course of study. It means more than a preparation for the life that now is. It has to do with the whole being, and with the whole period of existence possible to man. It is the harmonious development of the physical, the mental, and the spiritual powers. It prepares the student for the joy of service in this world and for the higher joy of wider service in the world to come. {Ed 13.1}

Waldensian Center Program

Waldensian Center offers a one year missionary training course, with the Scriptures as the sole basis, guide, and standard of education. It combines the study of the Scriptures, history, and prophecy with academics such as: speaking, writing, health sciences, and various life skills, and trades. Students will participate in an agricultural and industrial program, enabling the student to help support his own room and board.

Purpose

Graduates will be better equipped to labor in the Lord's vineyard in various capacities, according to their interests and talents, whether in the church as ministers, evangelists, health workers, deacons, elders, secretaries, treasurers, counselors, teachers, etc. or to labor in new and unworked fields to raise up churches. Students will be better equipped to be self-supporting through various skills acquired so they will not be dependent on the church or donations of others.

Our Great Aim

"The great work of parents and teachers is character building; it is to seek to restore the image of Christ in those who are placed under their care. A knowledge of the sciences sinks into insignificance beside this great aim; but all true education may be made to help in the development of a righteous character. The formation of character is the work of a lifetime, and it is for eternity. If all could realize this, if they would awaken to the thought that we are individually deciding our own destiny and the destinies of our children for eternal life or eternal ruin, what a change would take place! How differently would this probationary time be occupied, and what different characters would fill our world!" Special Testimonies on Education, p. 73
"If a youth desired to search deeper into the truths of the word of God and to seek wisdom from above, that he might become a teacher in Israel, these schools were open to him. The Schools of the prophets were founded by Samuel to promote the future prosperity of the nation by furnishing it with men qualified to act in the fear of God as leaders and counselors. In the accomplishment of this object, Samuel gathered companies of young men who were pious, intelligent, and studious." {PP 593.2}

Object

The true object of Education is to restore the image of God in the soul.

The Waldenses

"Parents, tender and affectionate as they were, loved their children too wisely to accustom them to self-indulgence. Before them was a life of trial and hardship, perhaps a martyr's death. They were educated from childhood to endure hardness, to submit to control, and yet to think and act for themselves. Very early they were taught to bear responsibilities, to be guarded in speech, and to understand the wisdom of silence. One indiscreet word let fall in the hearing of their enemies, might imperil not only the life of the speaker, but the lives of hundreds of his brethren; for as wolves hunting their prey did the enemies of truth pursue those who dared to claim freedom of religious faith. {GC88 67.1}
'The Waldenses had sacrificed their worldly prosperity for the truth's sake, and with persevering patience they toiled for their bread. Every spot of tillable land among the mountains was carefully improved; the valleys and the less fertile hillsides were made to yield their increase. Economy and severe self-denial formed a part of the education which the children received as their only legacy. They were taught that God designs life to be a discipline, and that their wants could be supplied only by personal labor, by forethought, care, and faith. The process was laborious and wearisome, but it was wholesome, just what man needs in his fallen state, the school which God has provided for his training and development. {GC88 67.2}
"While the youth were inured to toil and hardship, the culture of the intellect was not neglected. They were taught that all their powers belonged to God, and that all were to be improved and developed for his service." {GC88 67.3}
"From their pastors the youth received instruction. While attention was given to branches of general learning, the Bible was made the chief study." {GC88 68.2}
"Instead of educated weaklings, institutions of learning may send forth men strong to think and to act, men who are masters and not slaves of circumstances, men who possess breadth of mind, clearness of thought, and the courage of their convictions." {Ed 17.2}
"Such an education provides more than mental discipline; it provides more than physical training. It strengthens the character, so that truth and uprightness are not sacrificed to selfish desire or worldly ambition. It fortifies the mind against evil. Instead of some master passion becoming a power to destroy, every motive and desire are brought into conformity to the great principles of right. As the perfection of His character is dwelt upon, the mind is renewed, and the soul is re-created in the image of God." {Ed 18.1}
"Higher than the highest human thought can reach is God's ideal for His children. Godliness--godlikeness--is the goal to be reached. What education can be higher than this? What can equal it in value?" {Ed 18.2}
